Vince Gill and Lyle Lovett: Songs and Stories Tour
February 19, 2016 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Country Music Icons Vince Gill and Lyle Lovett will bring the co-headlining Songs and Stories tour to the Alabama Theatre in Birmingham on February 19th at 7:30 P.M.
Tickets go on sale to the public this Friday, October 16th at 10:00 A.M. Ticket prices are $69.00, $59.00 and $49.00 plus fees and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com, all Ticketmaster outlets and charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000.
The concert is part of the singer-songwriters’ 13-city “Songs and Stories Tour” featuring them sitting side-by-side on stage.
“(It’s) just two guys sitting on stools, telling stories and singing songs,” Gill said in a Mann Hall press release Monday announcing the concert. “No big bands.
“For a night like this, there is no plan. I know Lyle won’t have a plan, and I won’t either. What he plays will inspire me, and probably vice-versa. It’ll be like playing ping-pong.”
The setup of the Songs and Stories Tour is simple. Gill and Lovett will hit the stage together, both carrying acoustic guitars. Over the course of the evening, they’ll each take multiple turns at the mic, playing some songs alone and others as a duo. The mood will be light and loose, more aligned with the casual atmosphere of a songwriter’s round in Nashville than a typical concert.
“This will be two songwriters in the round,” Lyle affirms. “It’s informal, so there will be lots of ad-libbing. It will be like little snapshots of our experiences.”
Doors open at 6:30 with the show beginning at 7:30. Tickets go on sale Friday, October 16 at 10am through Ticketmaster.
The Historic Alabama Theatre is a Ticketmaster facility.
