The Alabama Theatre mourns the loss of its Executive Director and celebrates the life of a true hero. Cecil Whitmire passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, August 22, at his sister's home in Knoxville, Tennessee, at the age of 74. Cecil and his wife, Linda, led the transformation of the Alabama Theatre from a struggling movie palace into a successful performing arts center. His passion was the Alabama and the family and thousands of friends of his beloved Theatre.
